Mayor's Office

DonnaGreetings!  I am honored to serve our town as your new Mayor. I look forward to these next few years and hope to provide the leadership necessary to keep us moving in the appropriate direction. There is much going on behind the scenes of our small town. In order to keep you informed staff is creating our  new website www.townofwilkeson.com.  The site is under construction and should be complete within the next few months. You will be able to use the site for contact information of staff, council, committees and the Planning Commission. We will be posting the Council minutes, schedule, and Public Hearing notices.  You can find out how to get building permits, read about building codes, and review the town ordinances, comprehensive plan and shoreline guidelines. We would like to be able to link up and announce activities for our local businesses, school, service agencies, and non-profits so we can become a one-stop shop for town residents and visitors.  If you have any questions, there is link on the website to send an email directly to me or our town clerk.  Feel free to send your comments or ideas and we will respond as soon as we are able.

During these hard economic times, we will strive to keep the town’s infrastructure operating smoothly.  The town is applying for several grants this Spring with our Town Planner Mart Kask and engineering firm Gray & Osborne.  We are constantly looking for funding at little or no cost to help with bank stabilization, emergency planning, park development, sewer, water and street improvements.

I would like to introduce and thank our five town council members for their service: Becky Gilbert, Trisha Summers, Darla McQueen, Sereh Haubrich, and Roy Hanson.  I also thank our Planning Commission: Chair Marsha Derby, Dennis Smith, Gary Sainati, and Sherrian McGowen.  This Commission is currently reviewing our Draft Shoreline Management Plan and Master Park Plan.  Town staff has been patient and very helpful in  showing me ‘the ropes’ these last 3 months. Thank you to Meredith Shirey, Town Clerk/Treasurer; Kat Turley, Utility Clerk (who will soon leave us to pursue a career in nursing!); Shelly Morrow, Court Clerk, Ed Schantz, Water Operator, Jason Bazzar, Sewer Plant Operator, and Ed “Curtis” Rowe—Maintenance.  I especially thank our former Mayor Janet Kepka for a fine job and an easy transition into this office. I have a lot to learn, but I am optimistic about our town’s future.  Wilkeson is a unique town and with your help, we can make a difference!
